8. Cheryl's Moon Beam of The Month Article:
MOON BEAM CENTRAL
by Cheryl P.
For each issue of the newsletter I will present at least one MOON BEAM - a web
site suggested for your surfing pleasure.
FOR MY FIRST MOON BEAM, I RECOMMEND:
SAILOR MOON EPISODE LIST! (one of Glen Pearce's many great pages)
http://www.autobahn.mb.ca/~glenap/episodes.html
This is a must-have for all devoted Sailor Moon fans!  One of my fav fansub
distributors, Glen Pearce, has graciously provided us with a complete list of
the DIC dubs which we are watching on Cartoon Network.  This can be printed
out as a complete guide for your convenience.  It also can help you figure out
when some of your fav episodes will be shown.
(Please click on the links to his tape list and his Goofy Sailor Moon Page at
the bottom of the page, too!)  All of Glen's pages are great fun, and I am
sure will you enjoy them, too.  Check 'em out and see what I mean!  :)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS, GLEN!

FOR MY SECOND MOON BEAM, A NEW WEB SITE FEATURING THE ULTRA POPULAR JAPANESE
HEAVY METAL QUARTET KNOWN AS ANIMETAL:
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Island/8183/animetal.htm
Time to get your RealPlayer ready for this page- a marathon of anime songs and
themes, including BISHOUJO SENSHI SAILOR MOON, DRAGON BALL, GALAXY EXPRESS
999, and MACROSS, done in their own unique style.
They have a great sound, but somehow Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon is
(er...ah...well....ummm....you see....I....ah....Ms. Haruna....um...) somewhat
sacred to me and I prefer it NOT done as a heavy metal tune.  Don't
misunderstand that statement, though - - - the more I listen to Animetal, the
more I like them and I would definitely like to buy their cd!  :)
Listen to them for free with your RealPlayer audio and see what I mean!
Enjoy!

I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THESE PAGES AS MUCH AS I DID!

9. Cheryl's Merchandise that you might not have:
MERCHANDISE THAT YOU MAY NOT HAVE
by Cheryl P.
AS I COME ACROSS MORE UNCOMMON OR NEW MERCHANDISE, I WILL LET YOU KNOW ALL
ABOUT IT!  FOR THIS ISSUE, I HAVE  ADDITIONAL INFO REGARDING THE GREAT SAILOR
MOON FAN DUB REVIEWED IN THE LAST NEWSLETTER AND A DESCRIPTION OF ANOTHER VERY
SPECIAL ITEM!!!
IN THE LAST NEWSLETTER, I REVIEWED  THE SAILOR MOON FANDUB, WHICH I LOVE!
MARK SPRAGUE, THE GENIUS BEHIND IT ALL  (BOWING IN HIS HONOR), WROTE TO ME ,
AND - - -
In Mark's own words:
Well, there were credits on the tape, but I'll try and give
you a slightly more detailed cast list here, with explanations
about some of the strange bits ... here goes!
Voices:
JENNIFER WAND
Serena / Sailor Moon
Amy / Sailor Mercury (Episode 1-2)
Mikuji (Episode 1)
DANA KRAWCHUK
Amy / Sailor Mercury (Episode 3-4)
[The reason behind the two voices for Amy was this - at the
last minute, the girl who WAS going to do the voice for Sailor
Mercury backed out, and so we were left without a voice for
that character. So Jen, the voice of Serena, did her best to
ill in the part. Later I got Dana to fill the role, but since
Jen had already recorded lines for the first two episodes, and
it would have been very hard to go back and replace her lines
with Dana's, I decided to keep Jen for those first two and
switch to Dana come episode 3. Did that make sense? :)]
[To make it even more confusing, I'm not entirely sure that
the Mercury voice in Episode 3 and 4 actually IS Dana, since
there were so many Mercuries who have been and gone - but Dana
is the one I plan to keep in the role in all future episodes,
and it's most likely her, so, well, that's why.]
CARLEN LAVIGNE
Raye / Sailor Mars
Lita / Sailor Jupiter
ALLISON ROSE
Mina / Sailor Venus
[An early "preview" version of the dub was released more than
a year ago that had a different voice for Mina (Jo Yee Ouyang),
but she isn't working with us anymore.]
NIKKI PURVIS
Erica / Sailor Uranus
CRYSTAL KEARNS
Michelle / Sailor Neptune
LAURA VASILION
Monica (Episode 2)
Laylo (Episode 2)
Waitress (Episode 3)
JOHN MANNA
Andrew (Episode 3)
ASHKAAN RAHIMI
Shelly's Admirer (Episode 4)
MARK SPRAGUE
Professor Chronos
Kaolinite
Luna
Artemis
Darien / Tuxedo Mask
Sparky (Episode 3)
Trixie (Episode 3)
Violinist (Episode 4)
SHELLY SULLIVAN
"stunt screamer"
[OK, Shelly's job is a bit difficult to describe, but basically
it goes like this - sometimes, even after dozens of retakes, there
were some lines that the other actresses just COULDN'T get right,
usually involving screaming. Shelly is really talented at faking/
impersonating voices, so she would step in and provide the line
that the other actress missed, and most people can't spot the
difference unless they're looking for it.]
[Some lines that were done by Shelly in the finished fandub were -
Mina yelling "SERENA!" near the beginning of Episode 3, Serena's
scream when the monster appears later in the same episode, Raye's
"Whoa, she's worse than usual" in Episode 4, and the little cough
choke and whining noise that Serena makes when bopped on the head
during the violin recital. :)]

Script Writers:
CRYSTAL KEARNS
NIKKI PURVIS
MARK SPRAGUE
JENNIFER WAND
[The reason the scripts are so totally different from the original
Japanese dialogue sometimes is because I only saw the episodes in
Chinese - and I don't understand the language - so we had to guess
at a lot of the dialogue. :)]
Dubbing Engineer:
MARK SPRAGUE
OK, there you go, I think that's everything!
Thank YOU for all the flattery! ;)

AMI AND LUNA WORLD SERIES:  I was lucky enough to find this item at Usagi's
House.  (Arigatou, Heather!)  It is  Ami-chan with Luna from the Sailormoon S
World Series of UFO toys (UFO toys are very charming  soft sculptures).  She
is lying on a round green pillow as she studies, and Luna sits on top of her
head to see what she is doing!  This is such an adorable item that you really
have to check out the scan on the following page of Usagi's House:
http://www.usagishouse.com/merw221.htm
The facial expressions are priceless!   If you are unfamiliar with UFO toys,
allow me to explain that Ami-chan and Luna are complete figures, not partial
forms.  You can view this mini sculpture from all angles - - - it is really
beautiful.  Luna is decidedly gray (like Diana) but nonetheless Luna as she is
identified on the original tag.
This is my the first UFO toy in my collection, and I am certain that it won't
be my last!   Be sure to check out all of the great buys at Usagi's House.  ;)

Bye now!  :)
10. Sailor Zen's Anime Review:
Sailor Zen's Anime Review
Hi! this is Sailor Zen here, and frankly, I'm running out of material! Today I'll be reviewing the cute Shoujo anime Wedding Peach!
Momoko is a normal teenage girl, she has friends, she gossips, and, most of all, she dreams of one day being married to the man of her dreams, one whom she has already picked out.  Momoko and her friends, Yuri and Hinagiku, all have a major crush on the captain of the soccer team, Kazuya. But Yousuke, the team goalie, keeps the girls away from him (while him and Momoko fall in love) While walking through the park Momoko is attacked by a strange man, claiming he is a devil, who tries and takes Momoko's ring.  But out of nowhere appears the angel Limon (quite the hunk for an angel) who keeps the devil busy, after revealing that Momoko is the (drumroll) Legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach!!! Momoko then changes into a wedding dress where she uses her bouquet to banish a demon (Jamapi) from her friends. Like most Shoujo, this story progresses slowly, and doesn't pick up pace for a while (it takes four episodes until Momoko changes into her fighting Wedding Peach suit instead of her Wedding Dress) but it really is a good story, and I recomend it.

I've simplified the rating system, anime now gets a single rating, 1-5 meatball heads, 1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest

Wedding Peach: /@^^@\ /@^^@\ /@^^@\ /@^^@\ Four Meatball Heads!!!
11. Mako-chan's Columm:
        Mako-chan's Pointless Paragraph
OK, today you find out why it's called my "pointless" paragraph.  I
don't have any new news about Sailor Moon today, so I decided to do
something different.  I'm just going to babble (hey, that's what real
columnists do isn't it?).  What am I going to babble about?  Well, I'm
going to explain my similarities to Sailor Jupiter.  (Whoopee.)
Actually, my mom says I'm more like Sailor Moon; ditzy, late for school,
blonde hair, constantly eating, likes to sleep, you get the picture.
But here is why I'm like Sailor Jupiter.  Well, my favorite colors are
green and pink, except I like pink more.  (Pink is a kawaii color! ;D)
I love to cook, especially bake!  I made a really good cake once.  I
even like meatloaf.  It's not my favorite food, but guess why White
Castle burgers are my favorite?  They taste like meatloaf!  (At least to
me.)  And I've been eating White Castle burgers longer than I've been
watching Sailor Moon.  And my favorite type of pie is cherry pie.  I
also am boy crazy.  I'm serious.  You can't tell by just knowing me
though, I kinda hide it then.  But I have a huge list of boys at home.
Last time I checked there were about sixteen people on the list.  But I
only have one true love; Ryoga Hibiki.  He's so confused!  I love
confused men.   OK, no more of the off the subject babbling.  I love to
get into fights.  I just started karate, too.  Finally, believe me, I'm
not bragging, I am quite, um, how shall I put this, busty, like Mako.
Now, I didn't get any responses for last newsletter's poll, so please
take time to answer it this week!  I work hard on this column, and I
want feedback!  So the poll for this newsletter is whish of the Sailor
Senshi are you most like, and why?  Send answers to
kinomako@hotmail.com!

Okay here is Cataluna's article:
 Sailor Says
13. Heavenshine's Fanfic Review:
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Hi, everyone!  ^_^  I'm sorry I didn't do a review for the last
newsletter.  Unfortunately, I kept getting kicked off the computer by my
parents.  (Don't you just hate when that happens?)  This review is going
to be a short one, I'm afraid, because I have been allotted 30 minutes
to get this thing typed up and if I don't-- "Hey, too bad," as my mom
says.  So, here it goes!
For this edition, I am covering two stories that are about relationships
(awww!) that I found very appealing, albeit for very different reasons.
One of them is based on the NA version, and the other is based on the
original anime, as well as the manga.  They are written by the
(enviably) talented fanfic authors Jennifer Wand and Ysabet.  ^^
"Darien's View", by Jennifer Wand, is exactly that. This story takes
place during the alien sibs arc (y'know, when he has no clue that he was
ever Tux Boy), and we follow Darien through his daily trials--such as
when he meets up with a certain Meatball Head.  What really appeals to
me are the emotional changes that our protagonist goes through in the
duration of this story, especially concerning Serena.  At first he just
sees her as an annoying, clingy, klutzy, little kid.  But slowly, as he
spends more time with her (when Ann isn't competing for his affection,
that is) he discovers that she is...nice.  And even responsible, like
when she helps him care for a baby whose mother is hospitalized after a
monster attacks.  Suddenly, he starts to see the wonderful things about
her, like how she cares so deeply for her friends,  and how she truly
appreciates life.  In the climatic scene in Alan and Ann's apartment,
Darien realizes quite clearly what we knew all along--that he can't live
without her.  It's a great story, and I highly recommend it!  (This
story can be found at A Sailor Moon Romance; the URL is
http://moonromance.simplenet.com--but don't bookmark the locale, because
the webmasters are getting their own domain soon.)
"The Hardest Step", by Ysabet, is told from Kaiou Michiru's perspective,
and it is a "day-in-the-life" type story.  More specifically, it is
about Michiru and Haruka's return to high school, and the trials of the
first day back.  But it is also about how Michiru relates to other
people, her deep bond with Haruka, her love of Hotaru and Setsuna, and
her affection for the inner senshi.  You can feel the terrible sense of
isolation that she has at school, because she knows she's different and
can't change it.  Unfortunately, I am doing this story injustice by
trying to describe it.  "The Hardest Step" is something that must be
experienced personally to enjoy, so I urge you to check it out, because
it is a wonderful fic!  (This story can be found at my fan fiction
archive; the URL is
http://members.tripod.com/~heavenshine/stories.html  Just a note--this
story is rated PG-13 for making no bones about the context of Haruka and
Michiru's relationship.  It's not hentai, folks, but you should keep
this in mind!)
Urk, my time's up!  Well, it was fun--see you all next time!
14. Yamucha's Question Corner:
Okay my question for this issue is what is your favorite part of the newsletter and why do you like it?
